![]() ![]() It's not really intended to compete with devices like the Contour, X-keys, Behringer or other generic control surfaces. really the device is an extension to the UI of a particular piece of software. It's that that or we send in a crack squad of Raleigh Chopper-riding Turtles to BMD HQ - with megaphone-equipped elephants on the back screaming from the top of their trunks that the CAM buttons are redundant and '99.9% of users would like then to be re-programmable!!!Īs for it being 'unlocked'. I suspect there might be some merit in mentioning as often as possible that 'the CAM buttons are redundant' and '99.9% of users would like then to be re-programmable'' - By this means BMD might eventually get the flamin' message. Since it clearly doesn't do what you were hoping, I suggest you return it or resell it, and maybe research what you are buying more carefully next time. It's simply a single-purpose tool that was never intended for cross-application use. It's not impossible BM or even someone else could write software to allow keys to be mapped to other software, but it's a non-trivial amount of work.īM hasn't "locked down" the speed editor. ![]() Given that it's a custom piece of hardware designed for a single piece of software, what else do you expect? There is no standardized interface for NLE accessories, so why would you expect standardized compatibility? There are literally no other devices that do what it does. It's unreasonable to imagine it would work with "standard" keyboard drivers. But, doing so would never be straightforward it's not simply a keyboard (no "standard" keyboard has a jog wheel, and it doesn't have a key layout or number of keys that matches any normal configuration). I would love to be able to use the Speed Editor with other software. And then write a plugin for your preferred NLE to use said driver. Feel free to reverse engineer the I/O protocol and write your own driver. ![]()
